Multiple fire departments responded around 5:05 p.m. Thursday to the explosion at a home in the 200 block of Fox Chase Drive North and battled an ensuing fire, according to Oswego fire and police officials.
A massive plume of smoke billowing into the air from a west suburban house fire could be seen for miles Thursday afternoon. Around 5:15 p.m., NBC Chicago Sky 5 helicopter reporter Mike Lorber spotted the cloud of smoke rising from Oswego while gathering footage of a separate fire at a commercial building in Joliet.
Joliet's fire chief said a person who was working inside the building had minor burns to his hands, and a police officer was also injured.
